Gynecomastia
The appearance of breasts in men is known as gynecomastia. Its causes can be varied, sometimes related to hormonal changes, with taking certain drugs or unexplained elsewhere (idiopathic gynecomastia).
Its presence in both the adult and adolescent man usually produces psychological and integration problems. The patient avoids situations where his breasts are visible (pool, beach, gym …).
The intervention consists of performing a liposuction when the breast content is mainly fat or a removal through a small incision in the areola when the content is more glandular. The scars are small and easily concealable if there is hair on the chest.
It can be performed under general or local anesthesia and sedation and postoperative recovery is rapid.
It is convenient to use a Lycra vest that compresses the area to facilitate adaptation of the skin and reduce inflammation after surgery. The compression is maintained between 3 and 4 weeks.
