Corrective jaw surgery is indicated in both cases of prominent chin and chin with little projection
Chin augmentation is performed by placing, in that area, silicone prosthesis specifically designed or either moving forward the existing bone, from the inside of the mouth, so no scar is visible.
Chin augmentation by injection of fillers is also possible.
Reducing an overly prominent chin is also done through incisions inside the mouth, which provide access to the bone and allow removing excess.
This procedure alters the existing profile on the face and is usually done in association to cosmetic surgery of the nose.
